With the aim of the adoption of traditional archery as a cultural heritage, popularization of our ancestor sport to today and future generations to train teachers, especially physical education teachers, to train sportspersons, cooperation protocol was signed between Turkish Traditional Archery Federation and Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education.
Turkish Traditional Archery Federation President Cengiz Toksöz, Provincial National Education Director Mr. Levent Yazıcı, Federation Deputy Chairman Mr. Emrullah Akbulut, Strategy Development Branch Manager Mr. Timur Tuğral and Project Coordinator Mr. Büşra Saygın attended the signing ceremony of our Directorate. In the speeches in the ceremony, which attracted attention to traditional archery in terms of cultural codes of Turkish society, it was emphasized that every work for archery would serve not only sports but also our culture, tradition and future.
Trainings and Cultural Dimension
Traditional archery will be transmission and extended to future generations through teachers trained under the protocol. Protocol, competitions, trainings, courses and contains a series of studies that will contribute to the development of traditional archery in Turkey together with the cultural dimension. Teacher training in this academic year will be conducted by selecting one teacher from the pilot primary schools in 39 districts.
Trained teachers will provide training to students under the coordination of the school administration . The content of the planned training activities will be implemented in co-operation by the trainers assigned by the Federation.
In this context, various aspects of archery will be brought to the agenda through that highlight the cultural dimension of traditional archery in our history, including painting contests in secondary schools and short films contests in high schools.
